María (y los demás) – Nely Reguera (SPAIN)

This is the first movie of the catalan director Nely Teguera and talks about the everyday life of María, the main character. Ever since her mum died, María has taken care of her father and her siblings. That’s why her father’s announcement of marriage to his nurse brings María’s world crashing down around her. At the age of 35, she’ll have to change her fate.

Jim Jarmusch presents a film according to his own and special style, a quiet observation of the triumphs and defeats of daily life, along with the poetry evident in its smallest details.
Sidecar: 1.-31. December 2016- 1.000 pòsters, 5.000 concerts
The month of December is dedicated to the history and evolution of the posters used over the past 30 years for the concerts in Sidecar. During this time, several graphic school showed their talent – and went out of date. Although style is temporary, the medium poster is not. Singers and bands still stick to this way of communicating visibly who they are and what they do. Even in times of modern media, posters are part of the culture of music and concerts. You will find all posters of these 5.000 concerts online, so that you can download them. Or you ask Sidecar to print your favourite poster in high definition – distribution home for free!
16. December 2016-26. March 2017 – Arte y cine. 120 años de intercambios
This exhibition shows the inspirations, enrichments and influences of art on cinema and vice versa. The works presented are chosen from the collections of the Cinémathèque française and complemented with creations of Spanish and French collections. Special focus shown chronologically: the dialogue between vanguard artists and cineastes.
IEFC: 10. November-23. December 2016 – El Norte Habitado
Cristina Sánchez Escandell shows in her photographs the enquiry into the aesthetic and narrative possibilities of the tryptic photograph on an experience background. The images’ visual dialogues transcribe and expound the beginning of emptiness, a space every human being should reach to complete and live again. The artist combines poetry and image.
Museu Picasso: 24. November 2016-20. March 2017 – Mitologías. Obra Gráfica en la Colección del Museo
This exhibition shows engravings in which Picasso recreated scenes and personalities of the Greco-Roman mythology. In a fusion of history, myth and narration, the artist describes myths and histories about natural phenomena and legends of heroes. The works presented illustrate Picasso’s genius creativity, using different materials.
IEFC: 10. November-23. December 2016 – Barcelona blanc i negre 1971-1992
José Antonio Andrés Ferriz, president of the Catalan Federation of Photography, captured in his photographies social, cultural and sportive aspects of a city searching for its own identity, during a historic phase which started with the political transition and finished with the celebration of the Olympic Games.

A band ranked as great live acts, Crystal Fighters, is again in Barcelona. The British alternative band will perform almost all their songs at this concert.
Petite Meller is a newcomer to the pop scene who’s hard to pin down. On stage, she mixes Lolita-esque blushed cheeks and plaited hair with an array of dazzling costumes, and dances from start to finish with a childlike liveliness.

47th International Jazz Festival in Barcelona 2016

It’s a … cloth, more or less, about six feet by six feet, painted white. The background is white and if you half close your eyes, you can glimpse thin, transverse, white stripes. Sergi’s a friend of mine a long time ago. He is a boy who has triumphed, is a dermatologist and is an art lover. Last Monday I went to see the painting that Sergi had bought the previous Saturday, a painting that had been pursuing for months. A white box with a white stripes.
EL PETIT PRÍNCEP: EL MUSICAL
When: From December 7 to January 8.
The show featuring Ángel Llàcer, Manu Guix and La Perla 29 combines music, songs, real actors, 3D virtual characters, surround sound and a spectacular and magical visual scenery that transports the viewer from the desert to the grass, passing by the asteroid B 612, the king’s planet or the geographer’s world. A show created for children of all ages, from 4 to 100 years, which brings us in a unique way to the fable of Saint-Exupéry.

Year 2009. The United States has invaded Iraq since 2003. The War continues. Sarah, a prestigious war photographer, returns from Iraq to her apartment in Brooklyn. She was seriously injured by a bomb exploding while covering the conflict. She is accompanied by James, a war reporter who, after suffering a nervous breakdown and leaving the scene of the conflict, has had to return to find his wife. Once at home, they should heal the wounds. The visit of Richard, editor and good friend of the couple, accompanied by his new girlfriend, young and naive Mandy, will have Sarah and James review their project of life and couple. A year of respite for everyone to finally decide what they want to do with their lives.
